Services I Offer
Therapeutic Approach
I offer a combination of psychological approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Family Therapy. The relative use of each approach is collaboratively decided with clients, to suit individual need and stage of therapy. I practice mindfulness and receive professional supervision and individual therapy myself. I believe that the process of my own self-reflection and awareness is critical in enabling me to facilitate this optimally with my clients.
In the following podcast I discuss the core principles of ACT and how it can be used to support mental health professionals, as well as enhance our own wellbeing:
Mindfulness...
In Therapy
I frequently use mindfulness at the start or end of therapy sessions to compliment the journey of self-awareness and acceptance, which are central to the therapeutic process. Regular mindfulness or guided meditation practice encourages non-judgmental awareness of thoughts, feelings and sensations.
In Organisations
I offer mindfulness courses in schools and the workplace. Typically, this is a six-week course, with a weekly 45-minute session that can be run during a lunch break. I tailor each course to suit the needs of the organisation.
Teaching & Training
I offer bespoke education and training events for schools, businesses and charitable organisations. The central themes are wellbeing, improving communication and reducing stigma. I have lectured at The Institute of Psychiatry (Kings College, London) on early interventions for psychosis, family therapy approaches and mindfulness.
Supervision
I offer clinical supervision to other clinical and counselling psychologists.
