- Our 16 year old son saw Laura online as we were unable to find a psychologist with her experience nearby. We weren’t sure how it would work, but it was the best decision we could have made. The trauma he’d experienced made it seem unlikely that he would return to school for the start of a new school year. Laura engendered a deep sense of trust very quickly, and adapted her approach to suit him in a sensitive and thoughtful way so that he always felt safe. We had never imagined the outcome could be so transformative and are absolutely thrilled that he is not only back at school and thriving, socially and academically, but also showing such resilience. The most important thing though, is that we can now hear laughter through his wall instead of sobbing at night. We honestly believe that the work he has done with Laura will continue to impact positively on him, into adulthood and beyond.
I saw Laura for a number of sessions last year when I was feeling pretty low! She was absolutely fantastic and can I say very methodical and thorough with her approach to helping me understand my mental health.
What I found really helpful was her flexibility in allowing other family members/close relatives to join sessions when needed. There was quite a long period when I was feeling really depressed and Laura’s sessions allowed me to open up and understand the reasons why I was feeling this way.
I found that I clicked straight away with her as she is very easy to talk to and confide in, and one of the most approachable psychologists who has really helped me in desperate times!
We have worked with Dr Krieger for the last six months on our six year old’s confidence and separation anxiety issues. We have all benefited hugely as a family from these sessions as Dr Krieger has helped us develop a tool kit to deal with our daughter’s concerns. I was initially concerned about how our daughter would react to the sessions, but Dr Krieger put her at ease immediately and she actually enjoyed her time at them and responded very well to Dr Krieger’s approach and manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone with young children (and anxious parents who she is equally as well adept at dealing with!) I always found Dr Krieger to be available, responsive and went above and beyond what was required to help us with our daughter.
Over the course of about a dozen sessions, Dr Krieger supported me to navigate a tense period where I grappled with making sense of my child’s behaviour. We quickly shifted focus on to me and my views of the world to then find new, more helpful strategies to move us all forward as a family. Highly recommended.
I began undertaking sessions with Laura to focus on my anxiety and compulsive behaviours which I had experienced for many years before seeking help and support. Over the course of eight months we spoke about many aspects of my life, which I felt contributed to my anxiety and compulsions and she helped implement coping strategies. I feel the biggest aspect she supported with was helping me come to terms with the fact that the compulsions may never fully go away but that I could learn to deal with them and not have them hinder my life in such a strong way. By the time I ended my sessions with Laura, I felt that (perhaps without fully realising), I had a different approach to my compulsive behaviour and anxiety, although I knew these thoughts and feelings were still there, they weren’t so prominent and I had a much more rationale approach to dealing/coping with them. I am pleased to say this has continued several months down the line.
I brought my 11 year old daughter to see Laura to help her with a severe phobia. Both my daughter and I found the therapy sessions very helpful. Laura was warm and friendly and she helped make my daughter feel at ease. Laura was clear from the start about what we could hope to achieve and gave practical coping strategies. My daughter has learned to manage her phobia instead of it controlling her.
Laura’s treatments and therapy has helped my deal with stress and anxiety in my life and manage the physical manifestations of these stresses. She has not only helped guide me through techniques and methods that reduce anxiety but also identify and understand the root causes of stress; a skill that I continue to use independently. After seeing Laura I am far more aware of my emotions and have a greater ability to deal with them, which for me personally enables a reduction in my IBS symptoms.
My husband and I turned to Laura for support when our eldest child was ill. We were hoping that Laura would be able to support our daughter through her ill health and its consequences, including not finishing school and missing out on so much of normal life. In the end our daughter was mostly unable to attend. Instead Laura worked with great flexibility from week to week to support the rest of the family in dealing with many of the challenges that devastating illness brings. We were glad to have Laura’s support to help our family be strong, loving, compassionate and supportive for each of us. Laura worked with all of us, just with us as parents, and together with us and our other child, sometimes at our house and sometimes at her office. We found the experience extremely helpful in hard times.
I first started sessions with Laura when I was 17. I was struggling mentally but wasn’t entirely sure what was going on. We had introductory sessions before deciding on the appropriate course to move forward. She created a safe environment in which I felt easily able to talk about my problems. I felt able to make significant changes in my life thanks to Laura’s insight and support. After the sessions ended she was easy to contact and able to quickly arrange additional sessions when I felt I needed extra support.
Our daughter was 17 when she was diagnosed with severe depression and was prescribed antidepressants. Having had psychotherapy for over a year, things became worse rather than better – she completely isolated herself from her friends, spent all her time in her bedroom with the blinds pulled down and was living an existence where was she unable to find any joy in life. We sought help elsewhere and fortunately found Laura who took a completely different approach from our daughter’s previous therapist. With a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness, Laura had the skills to help our daughter get through the difficult days of the pandemic where she had no structure to her life, and to help her prepare for university. We joined in with sessions when required and found Laura to be warm, insightful and thoughtful. She was able to blend great care, sensitivity, intelligence and adaptability alongside the right kind of provocation, exploration and suggestion, in which our daughter found great value. To our amazement and huge relief, the depression gradually lifted and our daughter was not only able to go to university but has made friends for the first time in years. She is able to enjoy herself and is looking forward to the future, something we could hardly ever believed would be possible a year ago.
My experience in therapy with Laura has helped me so much with issues that felt impossible to handle beforehand. Sometimes when young people my age feel overwhelmed with emotions, anxiety and other hurdles it is amazingly helpful to have that time with someone that can help and once I committed myself to the process, I saw amazing progress in my anxiety and other problems that i greatly struggled with. I wouldn’t change the process for anything and i wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Laura to anyone that is struggling
We really can’t thank you enough for all you have done for him (and us). I truly believe you have helped him in finding his way for the rest of his life, given him tools and helped him know himself. I know there is the possibility he may always have hard mental health blips in life; it’s possibly what comes with the absolutely brilliant imaginative deep thinking side of his mind. Maybe this will not be the case, but if so, having had your help and his medication, he can live his life and deal with what comes along. We observe that now he experiences happiness and contentment and has more self esteem which at one point he just didn’t. How great that you do work that can make such a difference to one individual and thus a family.
